TUESDAY 'S @ BASSENDEAN
Both Samba and African drumming are taught through the Town of Bassendean RElax Program. Enrolments are taken at any time throughout the Terms!
RE stands for Recreation and Engagement.
African drum class
When: 6pm-7pm
How often: Tuesdays (Term 2), starting 29th April, 2025
These classes are structured in a fun and educational way, incorporating traditional music and rhythms from Ghana West Africa. You get to learn techniques, popular songs, singing and chants!
*No experience needed and all instruments are supplied.
Samba drum class
When: 7:15pm - 8:15pm
How often: Tuesdays (Term 2), starting 29th April, 2025
These classes are fun and easy to follow. Maria uses basic tools to teach the fundamentals of rhythm like counting, clapping, stick co-ordination, sticking patterns, tempo changes, rhythmic vocalization or anything to help build the musical achievements and goals of the group. When drum patterns are put together, they form an orchestra of traditional or original compositions.

Bassonovas Samba Rehearsal
(Bassonovas INC Members only)
When: 8:30pm - 9:15pm
How often: Tuesdays (Term 2), starting 29th April, 2025
Becoming a member of Bassonovas INC:

RElax participants must be invited to join Bassonovas Rehearsals

Invitees must complete a minimum of 1 Term of classes and qualify for an interview

Successful members must sign a Terms and Conditions Agreement /Code of Conduct before joining the band.

All Bassonovas Members must continue to attend the Samba RElax classes, as this is a pre-requisite and is where most of our learning occurs.

It is preferred that a minimum of 3 instruments are learned - to cover absentees.

A general level of fitness is required.

Those with any health concerns must obtain a medical clearance from their doctor.

Please do not attend classes if you are feeling unwell.
